XBMC (Xbox Media Center) in action and HD

XBMC (formerly Xbox Media Center) with the MediaStream skin in High Definition. This video makes full use of thumbnails and backdrop artwork and just highlights a few of the many features available. XBMC can catalog and play back all your movies, tv shows and music. Plus, with the available python plugin support, it can also do much more such as stream online videos from sites like hulu.com. XBMC is definitely my favorite HTPC interface. You can get more info at xbmc.org

Could you please tell me how well it scales. I am using Win7 MCE with Media Browser, but the interface is not quick. So do you think XBMC is quicker when you have a huge collection of media?

  9. trozza says:

Does it actually move this smoothly in High Def on the Xbox 1?

How does the cataloging work? Is it automatic? Can it associate ripped movies with it’s box art?

I tried Xbox 1 you apparently have to mod your xbox :(

though it makes sense, if you have the right shit you could give it a bigger HD thus making it a better “HTPC” =P

If you can download and double click a file, you can install XBMC. -Windows

If you can download a file and drag a .app file to your applications you can install XBMC. -mac

If you can type 4 commands in a terminal you can install XBMC safely in Ubuntu.

If you can put a cd in a drive, you can install the XBMC live variant.

at the part where he is showing the statistics about the movie with the girl singing, i saw something about “CPU: 4 cores”. The Xbox1 doesn’t have 4 cores, so i guess he’s running this on his PC ;)

  18. trozza says:

@frankiepankiefni sweet, thanks for the info frankie.I didn’t notice it first time around.

  19. gilhero says:

Instead of music in these videos, there should be commentary.

  22. Scortech says:

If XBMC had built in support for tv cards so you could watch and record “live tv” it would be the ultimate media center.

  23. Nomar1245 says:

Have you sped up the video or is that just how fast your system is? If that’s your system then that is absolutely fantastic. Mines quick now, but not that quick. :)

  24. haritoma says:

how did you get all the meta data? thats awesome.

I have an old Athlon XP 3200 and XBMC Zips along just as Quick as this. The Graphics card I use is an Nvidia 7800GS AGP. Thats the good thing about XBMC, it does not require Hi Specs.
